垃圾填埋氣預處理產生于垃圾填埋過程中，是垃圾中可以降解的有機物在降解過程中的一種副產品，它的主要成分是甲烷和二氧化碳，它們都是無色無味的氣體；帶氣味的物質來源是一些微量成份，一般來說，垃圾填埋氣中甲烷的含量在50-60%，二氧化碳為40-50%，微量成分占1%左右，這些氣體如果直接排放到大氣中，易燃易爆安全隱患很大，而且還會對環境成嚴重污染，溫室效應嚴重，同時也是一種資源與能源的浪費。垃圾填埋氣回收有著普遍的應用，例如發電或作為燃料能源，其中用作燃氣發電是比較普遍的利用方式。

垃圾填埋氣的預處理裝置通過氣體吸收裝置對填埋氣進行收集，送入雜質分離器將雜質去除，脫硫裝置去除垃圾填埋氣內的硫化氫。再經過初級過濾裝置去除粉塵或細小顆粒，經過冷卻脫水裝置進行初步脫水，再以氣液分離器去除水汽，而后經鼓風機負壓抽出再經精密過濾器進一步去除雜質從而得到初步處理完畢的垃圾填埋氣，具有良好的填埋凈化預處理效果，有效去除了有毒有害雜質。
